Kristen Evans wrote the book and lyrics and co-created the music. She co-founded the New Orleans Fringe Theater Festival and served as its Executive Director from 2008-2014, where she helped present over 500 theater productions. She was Art-to-Action Coordinator with the Louisiana Bucket Brigade from 2012-2014, where she collaborated with artists and environmental historians to develop the Plantation to Plant Bike Tour along the top of the Mississippi River levee in the heart of Cancer Alley. For ten years she lived two blocks from the Mississippi River, and she often wondered what exactly was at the bottom of that river. She works as a researcher for an international organization, focusing on the connections between people and tropical forests, and she has authored various scientific publications and journal articles.
